Meet Talia

Hi, I'm Talia and I am 6 years old. I am a first grader at Disney Elementary. I love school, music, painting, coloring and playing with my friends. I also love spending time with my 2 year old brother, Porter. I am involved in dance class and Girl Scouts, along with being a member of Midwest Heart Connection. My favorite color is purple. I have two cats, Sammy and Sassy. I was diagnosed with pulmonary atresia, hypoplastic tricuspid valve and hypoplastic ventricle while I was in my mommy's tummy at 20 weeks. At 29 weeks of being in my mommy's tummy, we went to Boston to have in-utero surgery done to correct the pulmonary valve. I was the 11th baby to have this experimental surgery done. The surgery was successful, however the pulmonary valve narrowed a month later. I still had to have the necessary surgeries, plus a few. I have had a total of 6 heart surgeries and 13 heart catheterizations. I had 5 heart surgeries and 8 heart catheterizations by the time I was 18 months old. I had my 6th heart surgery May of 2015. I take medicine twice a day to keep my heart healthy and I visit my cardiologist every 3 months. I am Super Talia!

Family birthdays and weddings... Beautiful sunsets... Goodnight hugs...
We want all people to experience more of life’s precious moments with healthy hearts and minds. And we’ve already made an extraordinary impact on heart and brain health. But until the world is free of heart disease and stroke, we’ll keep working to make a healthier, longer life possible for everyone. What is your why? Your reason for living a healthier life?

Physicians Mutual, Presenting Sponsor for the 2016 Omaha-Council Bluffs Heart Walk, would like to share a video of their “WHY”! Rod is long time employee at Physicians Mutual and his story inspires all of us to live a healthier, longer life. Rod is Why!
